About 3T

Little did Joseph and Katherine Jackson know when they started their family that they would give birth to the world's most esteemed dynasty, producing descendants so synonymous with pop primacy that the names of Michael, Tito, Marlon, Jermaine, Jackie, Randy and Janet are unmistakable as icons individually as well as part of the hallowed Jackson musical heritage. As nephews of King of Pop Michael Jackson, arguably the world's greatest entertainer, and sons of Tito, the second oldest Jackson brother, and the late Delores Jackson, they have inherited the ultimate pop music pedigree. 3T are part of that celebrated family tree.

When the boys were young, they appeared on TV and on stage with their famous uncles and aunts. Mean- while the boys were already imitating the Jackson brothers with brooms and mops and learning to play instruments by themselves. In 1985, (TJ aged 7, Taryll 10 and Taj 12) they were already offered a record deal.

Living up to their musical legacy, is second nature to "The Three T's" as their mother Dee Dee affectionately referred to her sons. The brothers witnessed first-hand the frenzy of the elder Jacksons' success, and the mega success of Michael and Janet. Yet they kept their show business aspirations to themselves during their formative years, absorbing a myriad of musical influences including the Jacksons, The Beatles, and Bread, focusing on sharpening their skills on piano, guitar, drums, bass and later computer equipment.

After stockpilling an impressive collection of material, their uncle Michael was thrilled to take them under his wing, allowing them access to his entertainment resources and signing 3T to his fledgling record label, MJJ Music. Michael not only gave his blessing but also the creative freedom his nephews needed which results in them writing more than a dozen songs of release. The best of these comprise the 12 tunes on Brotherhood.

Proud father Tito looks back fondly on the years his sons spent perfecting their craft before entering what can only be called the family business. He saw signs of their talents "even when they were toddlers", he says. "They used to hold brooms and mops and imitate the Jackson brothers. Coming from an entertainment family, they know they can't half step". Still, Tito remains determinate to instill in his sons a sense of perspective. "We tell them: "You guys are great, but don't get a big head. In the business, you're only as good as your last gig".

Besides their mastery of music, 3T have proven themselves superb athletes and exceptional scholars, with Taj and Taryll attending Loyola Marymount University and TJ having been accepted at the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and graduating a Business master degree in 2015.
In August of 1994, when Taj, Taryll and TJ were busy working on their debut album in the studio, their mom tragically died. When 3T felt ready to continue the debut album, both for themselves and for their mom, they did so under their father's management, "Poppa T Management". The trio have managed to deliver on their innate musical promise, with their debut effort, Brotherhood having sold over 3 million copies worldwide.

Released in October 1995, the album Brotherhood with contributions from Corey Rooney and Mark Morales (producers of Mary J. Blige), Gardner Coole (Madonna), Denniz Pop (Ace of Base), Babyface (Whitney Houston) and Michael Jackson, has garnered the group a huge fan base, particularly in Europe. Significantly for non-native, 3T have graced over 100 magazine covers and draw smitten mobs to meet them at venues and airports, surpassing even Boyz II Men and Babyface in overseas record sales.

3T’s first single, "Anything" which was composed, performed, and produced by 3T, has gone gold in the U.S., Denmark, Belgium, Norway and the U.K., selling over two million copies worldwide. "Anything" combined with the singles "Why", "I Need You", "24/7" and "Gotta Be You" gives 3T an impressive five Top Ten hits in the U.K. alone.
The album went gold in the U.K., The Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Thailand and the Philippines, exceeding gold to achieve platinum in France. With more than ten worldwide tours under their belts, 3T are now back to do a new arena tour in the U.K. and Europe.

After 5 European singles and more than a year of promotion, the brothers did the Brotherhood Tour in Europe in 1997, performing their songs live on stage for their fans.
3T recorded a second album under Sony in the late nineties which was never released due to strained relationships between Michael Jackson (MJJ Music) and Sony.

In 1997, backed by a 5-piece band 3T bring their music to their fans live on stage performing in 7 countries in Europe on the 27-date  sold-out Brotherhood Tour.

After the release of Brotherhood, 3T were ranked second behind the Spice Girls, as the biggest-selling group in Europe.

3T wrote and produced songs for soundtracks such asThe Jacksons: An American Dream (1992), Free Willy (1993), Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (1995), Men in Black II(1997) and Trippin' (1999).

The album titled Identity was released on March 23, 2004. Two singles were released: "Stuck On You" (a cover of the Lionel Richie song)  and  "Sex Appeal". Both singles charted in the top 10 all over Europe and remain fan favorites to this day.

After a stratospheric career in the 90’s and early 00’s, the brothers decided to take an extended hiatus to tend to their education, creating music for both 3T and other artists, and start their own families.  However, in 2009, their lives took a tragic turn with the loss of their Uncle and mentor, Michael Jackson.  After Michael’s death, the T’s turned their attention to the care of their Uncle’s three children, Prince, Paris and Blanket. Since Michael stepped in to be a tremendous source of support after their own mother, DeeDee was tragically murdered in 1994, Taj, Taryll and TJ wanted to do the same for their cousins. Their public life was put on hold as their attention was focused on their family and getting through that difficult period. Although they stepped away from the spotlight, they never stopped creating music knowing that they would make a return to the stage. Poppa T encouraged his sons to keep doing what they love and do best and make their uncle Michael proud by making new music.

In 2013, 3T got back into the rehearsal studio and decided to head back to the stage. They did several performances in Italy and made appearances in the UK.

Taj, Taryll and TJ participated in UK ITV's The Big Reunion TV show and a they were part of The Big Reunion Boy Band Tour, a 13-dates UK Tour in October of 2014, marking the return of 3T on the scene.

In 2015, 3T starred in Lifetime’s docuseries The Jacksons: NextGeneration that features the brothers as they work to balance a career and their lives as traditional family men while living up to the pressures and demands that comes with their last name. 2015 saw the creation of the song “Power of Love”. Written for their mother, DeeDee Jackson, “Power of Love” is an anthem of perserverance and how love is the foundation of everything. Also released was “That’s Our Family” the theme song to the docuseries, The Jacksons:Next Generation.

As a tribute to the late Dee Dee Jackson, and honoring her everlasting imprint on the lives of so many, Taj, Taryll, and TJ launched the Dee Dee Jackson Foundation. A non-profit organization built around the giving spirit and legacy of their mother.

3T released their album Chapter III in digital format in 2015 in the United States followed by a release worldwide in 2016 and followed by a release on CD, LP and picture disc in France in 2018. Chapter III marked the return to the charts and the stage. This album allows 3T to take fans, old and new, with them on the next chapter of 3T.
